Brief history of the labor aspect of May Day in North America:

In 1884, unions declared that eight hours would constitute a legal day’s work from and after May 1, 1886. 

In support workers went on strike at a factory in Chicago on May 3, 1886, police fired into the peacefully assembled crowd, killing four and wounding many others. The workers movement called for a mass rally the next day in Haymarket Square to protest this brutality.

The rally proceeded peacefully until the end when 180 police officers entered the square and ordered the crowd to disperse. At that point, someone threw a bomb, killing one police officer and wounding 70 others.

The police responded by firing into the crowd, killing one and injuring many others.

Eight of the city’s most active unionists were charged with conspiracy to commit murder even though only one was present, on the speakers’ platform. All eight were found guilty and sentenced to death, despite a lack of evidence connecting them to the person who threw the bomb.

Four were hanged on November 11, 1887, Louis Lingg committed suicide in prison, and the remaining three were finally pardoned in 1893.

Lucy Parsons, the widow of Albert Parsons, traveled the world urging workers to celebrate May Day and to remember the events of Haymarket and the subsequent government-sponsored murder of those fighting for the rights of all workers.

Over time, May Day grew to become an important day for organizing and unifying the international struggle of workers and their allies. 

~ Ride, Camp & Shoot ~

This Saturday the 28th we will be meeting at Jason Martinez place in Folsom on Dean Way at 7:30am and departing at 8:00am SHARP. 

We will ride up Auburn-Folsom Blvd to Auburn. Take Hwy-49 to Cool continue on into Lotus/Coloma and ride the back way into Rescue where my brother in-law lives on 38 acres. It's a 50 mile ride so we will have one gas stop in Cool for those of you that have micro tanks :)

This is my brother in-law, Shayne's 40th birthday party & he really liked all of you guys he met last year so he's invited us out to party with him again this year. Lunch & dinner will be served but the booze is on you.

With that said he's asked if people could bring a side dish to contribute or donate money to help the cause. I know that money is tight so whatever you give is cool, every little bit helps.

If you're handing firearms you will need to wait until you're done for the day before you begin drinking alcohol. This is for EVERYONE's safety.

Now the fun.

The gun ranges will be open from 9am-1pm

My brother in-law is a card carrying gun toting NRA member that actively supports gun rights so bring whatever you've got AR's, AK's, shotguns, handguns even pellet rifles and plenty of ammo. There will be a skeet range as well. Last year they had four skeet target throwers set up.

At dusk there will be a HUGE bonfire to enjoy & drunken fun is sure to follow with camping available to anyone wanting to stay over. 

You are welcome to drop off money, guns, ammo, tents, bags, booze or other supplies at my house this week so Sob can load it into the car & bring up for you. Just please do so BEFORE Saturday.

My dads big brother Carl, has always been my favorite uncle. He just turned 70, he was in the Army & the Navy, worked the mines in Kentucky & was the "Blast Man" on a dynamite crew clearing rock for high voltage powerlines. At the end he is a retired truck driver & blue collar to the core & has ALWAYS driven Chevy trucks.

When I was a kid it was a lowered root beer brown & tan 55' Chevy. His latest is this one he bought back in 2006. Fully loaded & as my cousin says shaking his head "he thinks he's a pimp" ..... my uncle says laughingly "You know I paid $31,000 in 1976 for my house & I got 30 years to pay it off. That damn truck cost me more than $32,000 & they only gave me 6 years to pay it off..."

The system is broke. Buy used, buy American.

So I've been working 32hrs a week for about a year now

Monday is my extra day off & I usually try & use it to get all my "Honey Do" shit done.

Yesterday was the day to replace the water pump & power steering pump on my o'ladys car. 

My sons van is in the driveway so I pull the car up behind it & get to the job at hand. At about 2:30pm after much frustration & looking like a bomb went off in my drive way, I hear a car coming down my little dead end street. When I lifted my head out from under the hood to see who it was this is what I saw 

My fucking garage door wide open for the world to see, MC parked on the lawn, all my tools & shit in the driveway. This shit pisses me off to no end, I NEVER leave my garage door open unless I'm out front and if one of the neighbors happens to be having a yard sale or some shit I won't open it at all. 

In hindsight I should of stood there with both my middle fingers up instead of fumbling to get my phone to snap a picture. 

I can't wait to get back out to the country & out of this fucking rat race.
